The Jewish Museum was created to promote Judea, the ancient Jewish quarter of Fondi and what is supposed to be the ancient synagogue, the so-called "House of the Spirits". The intent is to recover and enhance the memory and evidence of the presence of this community absent from the city of Fondi for about 500 years, which probably settled in the area since late antiquity and remained there until about mid 1500. The Jewish Museum may represent a further element of interest in the area and a centre promoting cultural events, educational activities and other initiatives, including those supporting studies and historical research in the field.
The exhibition space has been created in the same rooms of the probable ancient synagogue. Five rooms have been set up, arranged on two floors, enriched by precious fabrics, valuable wooden furniture, some of which are hand inlaid. The objects on display consist of reproductions or artifacts from various regions of the world and allow to deepen different aspects of Jewish culture.
