Faeto: A little village with an intact medieval charm

The small village of Faeto (less than 700 inhabitants) is situated on the magnificent mountains of Daunia, on a hill from which you can admire at a glance all the Tavoliere delle Puglie, the Gargano Peninsula and the Gulf of Manfredonia. Two are the main peculiarities of this little jewel. The first is that of being, together with the adjoining village of Celle San Vito, the only linguistic island francoprovenzale in Puglia (the term Faeto derives precisely from the corresponding Faìte). The other symbol of the village is the forest that surrounds him (Faìte means ‘faggeto’, beech woods). The Difesa Forest of Faeto is one of the most important forests of Daunia and is mainly formed by oaks and (precisely) beech trees. These two elements make Faeto a unique place where culture, nature, history and tradition blend to create a unique harmony, absolutely to discover.
