Devin: the first recognized Slovak white wine grape

Devin is the first recognized Slovak white wine grape variety which has been registered in the Charter of varieties registered in 1997. Was founded in 1958 by crossing Traminer red with red-white Gruner Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology. Characteristics of the variety: The Devin is characteristic that is not densely foliage, planting his act aerated and grapes are more exposed to light and the sun. Grape is medium sized, conical and dense. Devin is very plastic, it can grow almost anywhere where there is a suitable environment for vines. Given the high sugar content (which is genetically anchored therein) and high resistance to frost, it is suitable to higher ground. Devin is fertile and very high quality variety. Of all the varieties grown in our country has the highest sugar content of aromatic musts, which are in most grades suitable for the production of wines with special attributes. Characteristics of the wine: Wine color is straw – yellow, decent aroma is dominated by spicy notes Devine Traminer and geraniums. Honeyed unobtrusive haze to peel ripe grapefruit, good balance of primary and secondary bouquet, delight any lover of wines from aromatic varieties.
