There is no documentation that this is actually the bridge where Dante met Beatrice during one of those three famous – and unique – occasions, but this well-known painting "Dante and Beatrice" dated 1883 and by artist Henry Holiday on display at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, England, is a magnificent overview of the colors, customs and gestures of the period. It gives form and life to the simple memory of one of the encounters during which Beatrice seems to have recognized Dante and from which sprang the words that gave life to the masterpiece "Vita Nova".
From here, one can admire Ponte Vecchio, imagining the graceful muse seen through the eyes of Dante, a young man intensely dedicated to composing works for his beloved.
