Church of San Pietro – Wonder on rock

St. Peter’s Church is a marvel on rock in Gothic-Genovese style that leaves all travellers arriving in Portovenere from the sea speechless. The thirteenth-century "Christian temple", as Montale called it in one of his poems dedicated to this Ligurian town, is located at the end of the rocky promontory of the town and can be reached by a suggestive walk that offers a spectacular view of the Gulf of Poets.
