Campo Imperatore is a vast plateau defined, by the mountaineer Fosco Maraini, the Little Tibet of Abruzzo thanks to its boundless green landscape interrupted only by the majestic Gran Sasso chain. The plateau is characterized by the presence of small circular lakes of modest depth, among which the Lake Pietranzoni stands out in the middle of the plateau with a wide view behind the Corno Grande. It deserves a stop for a breath at high altitude and many photos.
