Buraco do Galego

Buraco do Galego (Translated from Portuguese as “The Galician Bath” or “The Galician Hole” ) is a tiny natural swimming pool which is fed with water from the Atlantic Ocean, The pool is located on the north eastern side of the main island of archipelago (there are 21 islands all and all) the island is about 350 kilometers east of the shores of Brazil (and belongs to Brazil). The pool gets filled when tide rises creating this amazing natural tidal pool which gets to be 5 meters deep at it’s peak. The pool is hidden between Basalt rugged volcanic rocks. The pool is overlooking the “dog beach“ (Praia do Cachorro).
