The Bergomi Museum exhibits a selection of ethnographic finds from the alpine valleys and the Brescia plain, belonging to the collection created by the Brescian painter Giacomo Bergomi (1923-2003), donated in 1999 to the Municipality of Montichiari.
The collection includes about six thousand pieces and it is the most important nucleus of these museum assets in the province of Brescia, able to document the historical reality of the local agricultural world of the last two centuries. The first section offers visitors an extensive reconstruction of the traditional cycles of the year and of human life, with their interweaving and connections with agricultural activities. The second section presents metal and woodworking techniques with a look at the ancient crafts of the carpenter, the carver, the basket maker, the blacksmith and the coppersmith. Temporary exhibitions are held periodically in the museum.
