Snow-capped mountain peaks, crystal clear lakes, thermal spas, old churches and lush greenery as far as your eyes can see, Berchtesgaden is a picturesque historic town tucked away in the Bavarian Alps bordering Austria. Although this Bavarian town does not appear on traditional tourist itineraries for Germany attractions, it is a great place to explore the region’s history; especially as Adolf Hitler’s secret hideout ‘Eagle’s Nest’ (Kehlsteinhaus) lays high above the mountain peak of this town.
