The village of Austria, which overlooks Lake Hallstatt, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and is home to the oldest salt mine in the world. At the same time, thanks to the producers of the animated film Frozen, the village has become one of the most visited villages in the world, especially by the Asian population, who nicknamed it "the most unstable city in the world". Hallstatt is a village on the western shore of Lake Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut mountain region of Austria. The 16th century buildings in Alpine style divided by alleyways house cafes and shops. A funicular railway leads to Salzwelten, a former salt mine with an underground salt lake, and an observation platform with a view of the lake. To the west, a path leads to the Echern Valley with its glacial wells and the Waldbachstrub waterfall.
