Anghiari, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy

Anghiari is a beautiful medieval village located in the territory designed by the flow of the rivers Tiber and Arno. An inviolable bastion thanks to its powerful thirteenth century walls, it has been a remarkable point of reference for many historical events holding high the flag of Tuscanity in a border land and very delicate balances. On June 29, 1440, the famous Battle of Anghiari, frescoed by Leonardo Da Vinci in Palazzo Vecchio, reaffirmed the Florentine hegemony over Tuscany. The passage of time has left important signs in the churches and palaces of the historical centre, developing a very suggestive urban design, collected along the steep "ruga" which crosses the town making it unique and unmistakable. Its small squares and narrow alleys host antique shops and furniture restoration workshops; museums and churches preserve masterpieces of painting and sculpture; at every corner panoramic views and breathtaking perspectives.
