Andro or Andros is an island of Greece, the northernmost of the Cyclades archipelago. It is about 40 kilometers long and the maximum width is about 16 kilometers.
Far from mass tourism, Andros is distinguished from the other islands of the Cyclades for its architecture, which does not follow the strict rules of building in the archipelago and the lush vegetation, due to the presence of water in the subsoil. Its inhabitants are mainly shipowners and men of letters; sailors and painters: for this reason it has often been described as a ‘floating museum’. It has a strong cultural vocation – it was here that Aristotle was born – and a long-standing nautical tradition. It boasts enchanting beaches and adventurous hiking trails, among brushstrokes of green and blue. But also monasteries and museums. It is just 2 hours by ferry from Athens.
