Aljezur and the beautiful hidden beaches of Portugal

Limited by the sea and the greenhouse, the territory of Aljezur reflects its dual soul in the landscapes. The coastline is characterised by high cliffs hiding dunes and beaches, while the hinterland is a succession of horizons covered with vegetation. In both cases, valleys and fertile land perpetuate rural traditions. Travelling through the area is an opportunity to recover peace and quiet, interrupted by birdsong or the rhythm of the waves breaking on the rocks. Aljezur is a small town on the Vicentine coast, made up of the characteristic rural houses of the Algarve where arches and colourful window frames highlight the whiteness of the façades. At the top of the hill, the castle walls remind us of its historical past, a symbol of the struggles between Moors and Christians. On the hill, the houses, a sort of white waterfall in the direction of the river, overlook the plain, where this centuries-old town has been able to find its development and its future.
