Phaeno Science Museum or Phaeno Science Center is an interactive science center located in Wolfsburg, Germany, opened on 24 November 2005 and designed by Zaha Hadid. The building’s design won a 2006 RIBA European Award and the 2006 Institution of Structural Engineers Award[3] for art, leisure and entertainment facilities.
The Phæno was included in a list of 7 Wonders of the Modern World (objects built since 2000) by the Financialist. The rectangular-shaped building was constructed using glass and concrete. It is located in a space immediately adjacent to the Wolfsburg train station and just south of the Autostadt in the centre of the German city. The main parallelepiped shape is supported by huge conical pillars made of concrete. Inside the structure are bubble-shaped holes that let light through and illuminate the interior.
Phæno is connected to the Autostadt by a metal bridge accessed by escalators on both sides. The lower part of Phæno and the conical pylons are illuminated at night.
