Among the verdant mountains of Alpago, in the province of Belluno, exactly in Sant’Anna di Tambre, there is a house made entirely of books that seems to come out of a tale of the Brothers Grimm. This is a wonderful work of art created by the famous Venetian sculptor Livio De Marchi, undisputed master of woodworking. Casa dei Libri di Tambre in Alpago has become one of the attractions of this area. The fence is made of pencils, the gate is a large pair of glasses, the structure of the house is made of wood carved as books one on top of the other. The roof is an open book and the chimneypiece a pen. Inside, the stove and fireplace are logically carved out of wood, the table and chairs shaped like books, the crockery and cutlery, the desk, the armchair, the clothes hanging and the laundry hanging out to dry in the bathroom… all made of wood, of course.
