At the Wine Museum Vigneti Pittaro the exhibition begins with a large historical collection of wine containers. The display cases contain glasses, pitchers, jars and bottles, able to testify, in different shapes and materials, the passage of time and the change in habits related to the consumption of wine from Roman times onwards. There are also chalices and ampoules for religious services. The display therefore proposes some sections dedicated to the history of viticulture, going as far as the description of the modern cellar. Really interesting are the historical locations faithfully reconstructed with period objects, such as the cellar, the tavern, the laboratory of weights and measures, the master glassmaker’s workshop, the distillery and the cooper’s workshop. Historical posters, documents and tools recreate settings of ancient charm very suggestive.
