Whitstable

Whitstable is perfect for a seaside touch-and-go starting from London.Once you get off the train, follow the signs to the harbor: you’ll find yourself strolling through the village’s many narrow alleys, once used by fishermen to reach the beach. One of the best known is Squeeze Gut Alley, whose name suggests having to walk sideways because of its narrowness…but that’s not always the case ???? Harbour Market is teeming with people buying freshly caught fish, strolling through local craft stalls or relaxing with a drink. Oysters have been caught in Whitstable since Roman times, although the industry experienced its heyday in the late 18th and 19th centuries, slowing down in the last century before picking up some steam in recent years. Behind the marina is the village, with a small central street all lined with stores, pubs and, of course, Oyster bars here as well. Village life is very lively, and you can tell that this must be a popular place in these parts.
