Wat Tham Mangkornthong is a spectacular hilltop temple known for its representations of floating nuns. Like many regional temples, this ancient shrine resides in a natural limestone cave. Access is via a steep staircase of 95 steps lined with Naga-shaped handrails and dense vegetation.Although there is a solid selection of small shrines and religious displays, the real stars of the place are the floating nuns. These devout elders meditate by floating in a clear pool, remaining motionless with their mouths just millimeters from the surface of the water. Spectators are welcome to gather around and observe.
