Viscardigasse

Viscardigasse is a short pedestrian lane in the centre of Munich, not far from Marienplatz, but many in Munich call it the Drückebergergasse lane. On November 8, 1923, Munich was the scene of a failed coup d’état, which went down in history as the Putsch of Munich, and among the organizers Adolf Hitler who years later, having taken power, placed a memorial in memory of those events next to the Feldherrnhalle, to commemorate the first fallen for the cause of National Socialism. The memorial was planted by 2 militiamen and passers-by were obliged to give the Nazi greeting. Those who did not want to give the greeting, then preferred to slightly extend their route, through Viscardigasse.
