Villages of Italy | Castelcivita

In Castelcivita there was a castle from the Norman period and a walled enclosure that no longer exists. There remains instead a tower built around the thirteenth century by Pandolfo di Fasanella, then feudal lord of much of the territory that he first probably fortified. The tower, built overhanging the valley, at the highest point of the town, assumed great importance in relation to the walls of the village and compared to the then disappeared castle.
