The village of Vernazza is one of the most beautiful villages of the Cinque Terre, famous worldwide for its atmosphere is considered a jewel between sea and rock. Founded around the year one thousand, it offers a unique landscape made of dry stone walls and fields overlooking the sea that characterize its beauty.
The town is crossed by steep and narrow streets that descend towards the main road and end in a small square in front of the marina.
Inside the town, reviewed as one of the most beautiful Ligurian villages in Italy, you can admire architectural elements of value as loggias, arcades and portals. Eugenio Montale was so bewitched that he dedicated some verses to it, it says a lot about the irresistible charm of this village. A unique place in the world that is part, since 1999, of the Cinque Terre National Park and that, for obvious reasons, is one of the main attractions of this stretch of coast. Like the other pearls that dot the Ligurian Riviera di Levante, Vernazza has ancient origins. The first settlements date back to the Roman period, but it was only in the Middle Ages that people began to understand the potential of this village, located in a strategic position. Vernazza was for a long time the only one, among the Cinque Terre, to boast a port that offered shelter in case of need. And for this reason it was exploited several times during the times of the Maritime Republics.
