The lake of Piediluco has always been generous with fish with its inhabitants, who reciprocate the goodness of the lake by paying homage to the fish fruits in the best possible way: on the table. One of these, the royal perch, has become the emblem of the cuisine of the lake in the carbonaretto alla piedilucana. The royal perch, cooked over an open flame until the external part is carbonized – hence the name carbonaretti – are gutted and served together with a very special – and very tasty – salsa verde. And the lake takes on a completely different flavour.
Those who, especially in summer, are not able to get close to a stretch of water without immediately diving into it, can rest assured: Lake Piediluco can be swam, and if the colour of the water, in the warmer periods, takes on reddish tones, do not be afraid; it is a very natural phenomenon due to the enormous proliferation of algae and aquatic plants in the waters of the lake.
