Ukraine is an Eastern European state with an area of 603 628 km² where 42 322 028 inhabitants reside as of 2018 and its capital is Kiev. It has an outlet to the Black Sea to the south and borders Russia to the east, Belarus to the north, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to the west and Romania and Moldova to the south-west. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine is a Ukrainian National Orthodox Church. It was founded on 15 December 2018 with a reunification council " between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Patriarchate of Kiev and the Ukrainian autocephalous Orthodox Church, with the permission of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which recognized the new Church as autocephalous.
