Turku’s most famous museum is the Maritime Museum which is located just before the castle, towards the mouth of the Aura River. Housed in an old barn, the museum tells the maritime history of Turku. Some of the ships moored along the river are part of the museum: the Keihässalmi minelayer, the Sigyn with its three masts and the Suomen Joutsen, the Finnish Swan, used during World War II as a hospital ship.
