Turku Cathedral, the most important church for Evangelical-Lutheran worship in Finland, is located along the banks of the Aura River and its tower, more than 100 metres high, is visible from almost every point of the city. The cathedral has been restored many times over the years and one of the last works was carried out by German architect Carl Ludvig Engel. Inside the church is buried Karin Månsdotter (1550-1612), Queen of Sweden, respected and loved by the Finns.
