The Museo Storico dei Vigili del Fuoco, born on the occasion of the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Foundation of the National Fire Brigade Corps, houses the precious collection of vehicles, documents, equipment and historical memories, which the Historical Archive has had for a long time.
The largest corpus of the photographic heritage, unique for its richness and completeness, concerns the Second World War, with its three precious volumes of over 1000 photographs, and with the almost complete collection of the original negatives consisting of about 4000 restored, collected and sorted frames. Another 4000/5000 photographic and negative images from the pre-war years and up to the present day complete the archive. Other photos still from the early 1900’s owned by the Associazione Per la Storia dei Vigili del Fuoco, enrich the patrimony open to consultation and made available to the community.
The archive’s patrimony is also composed of vehicles of different sizes and types, equipment and documents that have daily written the history of the Fire Brigade from the 18th century to the present day, most of which are kept in different locations, but almost never appropriate to the patrimony itself, quantifiable at present in over 70 vehicles of different ages.
To complete the vehicles there are, moreover, those equipment of different sizes and types, which constituted the operational equipment of the firefighter in the years before the constitution of the National Corps and in the following period.
