After the great town fire of 1689, the Trinity Church was built between 1701 and 1717. It is the oldest of the five Protestant churches in Speyer. Today, the church is considered a jewel of the Baroque era with supra-regional significance and an outstanding achievement of Protestant church architecture.
The interior of this church is beautiful, with painted vaulted ceiling and impressive altar. In addition, this church has painted panels depicting portions of the Bible – both Old and New Testaments, are painted by Johann Christian Gutbier.
