Tremosine sul Garda

There is an enchanted village where the Alps plunge into the blue of Lake Garda and the Alpine atmosphere embraces the Mediterranean. Between mountains and lake, between Alpine and Mediterranean, lies the green plateau of Tremosine, a natural oasis still uncontaminated that satisfies the spirit. In front of it, on the other side of the lake, the imposing Monte Baldo, the amazing road that runs along the deep gorge of the Brasa torrent, sometimes dug into the rock and sometimes overhanging overhangs that leave you amazed. At its inauguration in 1913, a correspondent of the Frankfurter Zeitung called it "the most beautiful road in the world". Driving along it, in just a few minutes you pass from the liveliness of the Gardesana Riviera to the tranquility of the plateau, from whose terraces overlooking the lake nature shows man all its splendor. From the "Terrace of Thrills", suspended 350 meters above the lake, the view is breathtaking. And at nightfall, discover the delights of a simple refined cuisine. Tremosine, with its parish church that juts out from the rock overlooking Lake Garda, is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy". Pieve is located on top of a cliff carved by the glacier. Lake Garda is 65 meters above sea level, while the main town is 423 meters above sea level. For centuries they have been connected by one of the most beautiful paths in the world, the Sentiero del Porto, and you can still go there enjoying the breathtaking view and letting the breeze from the lake caress you. The ancient pavement and the blackened stones of the walls of shelter tell of men and barters, of goods carried on the shoulders with monstrous effort. When you get to the top, the terrace on which the cable car was mounted at the end of the nineteenth century reconciles you with the paradise around you. Up and down, down and up, first to get to the port, almost hidden at the foot of the valley, then to reach the cotton mill, in Campione, a source of work for hundreds of workers. Up and down also to go to the mountains, to cut grass for the animals, wood for the fireplace but also for the calchéra and the poiàt. Then the hunt, the stable, the inn… Pieve still lives this dimension between the lake and the sky, while Baldo, the imposing mountain that stretches out on the Veronese shore, resembles an attentive and faithful guardian. At sunset, when the plain, in the background, glows with red fire, the cluster of houses around the Castèl and the church welcomes you in its narrow alleys and protects you.
