Tortuguero National Park is located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and is one of the most important places in the world for green turtle spawning.This 19,000-hectare park includes beaches, canals, lagoons and rainforests. It was established in 1975 to protect the sea turtle nesting area and its fauna and flora.During the nesting season, which runs from July to October, green turtles deposit their eggs on the beach, and visitors can observe this incredible natural spectacle.The park is also famous for its navigable canals, which provide an excellent opportunity to observe birds, crocodiles, monkeys and other animal species.
