Today, Barbera d’Alba è is a prestigious wine, rich in colors that generally recall purple ruby, just that of cardinal’s robes; the scent è broad and composite, with fruity notes reminiscent of blackberry, cherry, strawberry and red fruit jam and spicy hints reminiscent of cinnamon, vanilla, green pepper.
The full-bodied flavor mitigates the acidity characteristic of the grape variety. Small woods suitable for the type of wine are successfully used, precisely because they too dampen the acidity, which – it should be pointed out – remains fundamental for the product’s taste balance and for good, pleasant drinkability and digestibility.
