In a beech forest on the slopes of Mount Fumaiolo, 1268 meters above sea level, springs the river sacred to the destinies of Rome whose name would seem to derive from Tiberino a descendant of Aeneas who drowned in its waters. The Tiber comes to life from two springs located 10 meters apart, called "Le Vene," then travels a striking drop to go to wet the village of Balze. After 4 kilometers in the land of Romagna, it crosses Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio to flow into the Tyrrhenian Sea after a distance of 406 kilometers.
