The Zeitz MOCAA is the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world—it’s essentially Cape Town’s answer to the Whitney Museum in New York, or the Tate Modern in London.

The collection is dedicated to contemporary art from all over the continent—from Swaziland all the way up to Senegal. Housed in an historic converted grain silo, which was redesigned by U.K.-based Heatherwick Studio, the building is almost as impressive as the work inside. Although the exterior of the lower part of the building remains unchanged, the interior has been completely transformed. When you’re done making your way through the exhibits, head up to the rooftop, where you’ll find the Silo Hotel, with city views and space to enjoy a well-deserved glass of local bubbly
