The presnitz is a tasty traditional dessert from Trieste whose origins date back to the early nineteenth century, this recipe, due to its goodness and originality, has been handed down unchanged until today.At the beginning of the nineteenth century Trieste lived its magical moment of maximum expansion. In order to worthily welcome "Sissi", Empress of Austria and Hungary, the city became festively beautiful. In an elegant PASTICCERIA in the CENTRE a cake created for the occasion appeared for the first time. It bore the inscription "If you turn the world over, come back here". It was awarded the title of "Preis Prinzessin" (Princess Prize). The people of Trieste hastily and lovingly called him PRESNITZ. TRIESTE was thus enriched with a sweet that will remain as a seal on traditional and happy occasions.
