The Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous structures in the world and not for its series of arches, but for its legendary inclination.
Built as a bell tower to flank the cathedral, the tower began tilting its foundations in 1178, before architect Bonanno Pisano completed the first three levels.
Luckily the inclination has stopped, thanks to steel tie rods and counterweights. The tower now has an angle of inclination of 4.1 meters instead of the previous 5 meters.
