The sanctuary of the Madonna di Monserrato is located on a rocky outcrop, in a very characteristic scenery among cypresses, agaves and Mediterranean scrub and from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the valley below. The sanctuary has the shape of an irregular rectangle; contiguous to it, to create a single body there is the sacristy. Above the church stands the classical dome, surmounted by a lantern. The bell tower has a sail-shaped top. The facade is unadorned and shows well the changes it has undergone in the course of time. The portal is surmounted by a broken tympanum, and a large rectangular window opens above it.
Even the interior is bare and without architectural merits, even if the peeling walls at some point reveal traces of frescoes below.
On the marble altar is the great attraction of the faithful. It is the painting of the Black Madonna, a copy of the more famous Nuestra Senora Morena kept in the sanctuary of Montserrat in Catalonia. Of unknown author, it has a modest pictorial merit. It depicts Mary seated on a throne with the Child on her lap. The Virgin, dressed in ample red and blue drapery, holds in her right hand a sort of spherical vase from which sprouts a flowering lily plant.
