The Roman museum in Cologne is built on large columns that seem a clear allusion to a temple of ancient Rome. Inside are collected evidence from prehistory to the Merovingian era and, among the most valuable exhibits in the museum, you can see the beautiful mosaic of Dionysius, dating back to 220 AD. This work is simply fantastic, think that it measures about 70 square meters and consists of 1 and a half million colored pieces made of natural stone, glass and clay.
I had already happened to be standing in front of a mosaic and it happened in front of one of the masterpieces of the Archaeological Museum of Naples. But I had never found such beautiful ones in Germany.
Another very beautiful section of the Roman Museum in Cologne is an important collection of ancient glass: vases, glasses, bottles that enriched the tables of the nobles and still show their decorations. Some of them are really very precious because it is very rare to find them intact, given the fragility of glass.
