The ancient church of San Gaudenzio in Baceno is located in the Piedmontese province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, about 10 km from the Swiss border, a national monument, perched on a hill overlooking the entire valley at about one thousand meters above sea level. Like many other Christian churches, it stands on what was once a pagan temple. Today’s complex is a structure that blends different architectural styles (Romanesque-Lombard-Gothic-Baroque), and is the result of more than a thousand years of history and devotion.
