The Nyhavn is an iconic Copenhagen canal lined with colourful old houses. It is the historic port of the Danish capital and one of the most visited places in the city. In the past, goods and people from distant and unknown countries used to pass through this canal. The characteristic Danish coloured houses of the 17th and 18th century have made Nyhavn one of the most famous attractions in Copenhagen: the writer Hans Christian Andersen, author of the fairy tale The Little Mermaid, also lived here.
