The Museum Island, Berlin’s sanctuary of arts and sciences

The Museum Island serves as Berlin’s sanctuary for the arts and sciences and in 1999 it was named a National Heritage site by UNESCO. The area is made up of five different museums while The Royal Museum was the first of the five to be built in 1830 for the German public to be able to view Germany’s royal treasures of art.
