The majestic complex dominates the town of Ivano Fracena and the Eastern Valsugana, and today is the venue for events, conferences, weddings, which can be hosted in its splendid rooms.
Many nobles have inhabited this castle: from Dalla Scala of Verona to the Visconti, to the da Carrara, until it became the property of the Counts Wolkenstein. Since 1901 it has been owned by the Staudacher family, who still live in the castle and take care of its preservation.
Through the architectural forms, the furnishings and the frescoes, the Castle tells stories of knights and battles, among which the vicissitudes of Count Biagio delle Castellare in 1365: since then every four years at Carnival there is a masked party in memory of the historical events.
The Castle presents an architectural game that encompasses the medieval style of the walls, the Renaissance style of the residence and the Benedictine loggia. From the watchtower, on which the coats of arms of the nobility are still clearly visible, one arrives at the moat and a large gateway, then the external courtyard with a fountain and a historic acacia tree from the sixteenth century. This is followed by the large hall of the old barn and the seventeenth-century chapel. Continuing on, you reach the inner courtyard, where there are two buildings connected by loggias.
The castle can be visited by appointment only
