The Lachine Canal through the Island of Montreal

The Lachine Canal is 14.5 km canal which passes through the Island of Montreal’s southwest.The canal begins at the Old Port of Montreal and meanders through several boroughs to Lake Saint-Louis. Lachine is considered the gateway to a network of canals which link the Atlantic Ocean to the heart of the North American continent and is considered a National Historic Site.
