Founded in 1908, it bears witness to the art of ceramics from every era and continent with over 30,000 works: from finds from the fifth millennium BC, to the Italian Renaissance collection, to masterpieces by contemporary artists such as Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Burri, Baj, Ontani.
The International Ceramics Museum of Faenza is the largest collection of its kind in the world. In its rooms is documented the culture of ceramics in the five continents through the centuries.
Alongside the great Italian and European production of the Renaissance important sections dedicated to pre-Columbian America, classical Greece, the Roman Age, the Near and Middle East and Islamic ceramics. Contemporary art, Italian and international, is represented by the major artists of the twentieth century.
The exhibition space of the Museum is currently about 6,000 square meters, with over 3,500 works that can be consulted along the exhibition itineraries.
