The Great Banyan – Kolkata, West Bengal. Belongs to trees with largest canopy. This Ficus benghalensis L. is considered to be some 200 – 250 years old, area of canopy – 1.5 hectares, circumference of canopy – 1 kilometre. Height up to 25 metres, contains some 2,880 aerial roots rooted in soil.
