The goat’s horn pepper of Teggiano is also called Sciuscillone. It generally has a tri- or quadrilobed horn shape, a width at the shoulder varying from 2.1 to 5.7 cm, a length ranging from 16 to 32 cm and generally ending with a pointed apex, although there is a great variability even of surface that can be more or less smooth while the pericarp is always thick. The fruit has a green pre-ripening colour, an erect habit in the apical part and horizontal/semi-prostrate in the basal part (most likely due to the weight of the berry) with a very variable sinuosity at the pericarp level. The colour of the berry when ripe, on the other hand, is red-brown. The product is also air-dried to be ground.
