Between late May and mid-July, the Castelluccio plateau witnesses an event of special significance, the Flowering.
For several weeks the chromatic monotony of the pasture, is broken by a mosaic of colors,on variations of tones ranging from yellow ochre to red.
Although the Flowering festival usually falls on the third and ‘last Sunday of June, there is no precise day to admire this enchanting spectacle. Each year everything is entrusted to the weather pattern of the season.
The floral species that tint the Pian Grande and Pian Perduto during this period are countless, walking along the paths one can encounter: gentians, daffodils, violets, poppies, buttercups, asphodels, violet Eugeniae, clovers, sorrels and many more.
