The cycle of frescoes in the castle of Gambatesa, painted by Donato Decumbertino, is considered one of the most important 16th century paintings of the Kingdom of Naples.
Donato performed such a vast repertoire of figurations and references to Ovid’s Metamorphoses that the visitor was completely subjugated to his visionary constructions.
