The Calipsee Islands, or the archipelago of Malta, are named after Calypso, the nymph daughter of Atlantis who in the Odyssey held the recalcitrant Ulysses, eager to get back on the road, prisoner here for seven years. In the Homeric story, the island that is home to the Italic hero is called Ogigia, and is presumably the Gozo of royal geography.90 km from the south-eastern coast of Sicily, just between Tunisia, Libya and Lampedusa, Malta can really be considered the heart of the Mediterranean.the name Malta derives most probably from the Greek Melita, which means "sweetness of honey", and could be right in the large amount of bees and honey production always practiced on the island, but also in the always temperate climate that distinguishes it.
