At the heart of the magnificent region of Calabria lies a coastline that stretches no less than 780 kilometers. A succession of spectacular landscapes that capture the imagination: majestic cliffs that alternate with white sandy beaches, enveloped in the scent of vineyards, orange groves and olive groves. Picturesque villages, clinging to the mountain slopes, peer out over the shoreline that is often lashed by wind and waves. From north to south, the Tyrrhenian coast offers a breathtaking spectacle. Crags overhanging the sea, sea terraces overlooking crystal-clear waters, caves with imaginative names, rock arches and bridges, and small inlets caressed by golden sands and cliffs adorned with holm oaks, heather, mastic trees and myrtles. And it is in this wonderful setting that Praia I Focu is located, nestled in the southernmost part of the Costa degli Dei, in the vicinity of Capo Vaticano. It consists of three enchanting coves enclosed on their sides and behind by imposing gray, jagged cliffs. The first small beach, accessible by sea, welcomes boat arrivals because of its convenient access. The second is a small cove that can be reached on foot from the first. The third, unfortunately inaccessible to me, is probably the most famous and photographed, characterized by huge flat rocks as soon as you enter the water. However, each of these coves shines with a unique beauty, thanks to the purity and transparency of the water that I was able to personally admire in the first two.To reach Praia I Focu, the main route is by sea, as access by land is almost impossible. However, I learned that there is a hotel facility located on the rocky outcrop overlooking the beach, equipped with private access via a staircase that descends to the sand. Although I cannot give my personal opinion of the facility, I found that it is possible to stay in this lovely place and enjoy the mild climate and the sea sheltered year-round by currents that cool the waters. The high cliffs surrounding Praia I Focu protect this corner of paradise, and as soon as you land on the pale sandy shoreline, you can dive into the turquoise and crystal clear sea, admiring the flora and fauna that inhabit the seabed. In conclusion, Praia I Focu represents a hidden gem of Calabria, a place that enchants with its wild and unspoiled beauty. Imagine walking along the beach, feeling the sea breeze and being enchanted by the sight of the breathtaking views that surround you. It is a place where nature reigns supreme and where you can find peace and serenity away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
