The Baptistery of the Aryans was built by the Gothic King Theodoric (493-526) as the baptistery of the ancient Aryan Cathedral, today the Church of the Holy Spirit. It was then reconciled to Orthodox worship at the time of Archbishop Agnello, as an oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary. With an octagonal plan, it preserves precious mosaics inside, representing the procession of the Apostles around a central medallion with the Baptism of Christ.
The Baptistery of the Aryans is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
