The western Algarve includes vast sandy beaches and towering cliffs, many of which have been eroded and carved by the strong waves sweeping the coastline. Along this fascinating coastline, Ponta da Piedade is considered the most beautiful natural formation, with headland cliffs carved into rocky pillars, natural tunnels and hidden caves. These golden sandstone cliffs with their irregular angles stand out in stark contrast to the deep turquoise and green waters, and the whole region can be described as simply wonderful.
